Another month has flown by and in my true nature, I’ve procrastinated once again to the last day to take pictures. This has been a rough week for me. Monday morning, I waved good bye to my husband as he flew off to Taipai, Taiwan. He originally was be gone until Sunday but I got the phone call that his trip would be extended longer and he wasn’t sure when his return flight would be. Poo. I hate when he is gone. I don’t sleep well. My kids seem a little off kilter and I just miss him terribly. Plus Sunday is my birthday and Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. Looks like I will not be celebrating those with my hubby this year.
After dropping him off at the airport, I had to make a doctor’s appointment for myself. I have PINK EYE!!! Just miserable. Eyes that are irritated and don’t function are not a photographers friend. Then to top it off, I think we might have to put our dog down. I just discovered a tumor on the inside of his gums. It wasn’t there when I bathed him last week and now it’s the size of a golf ball. I will be making an appointment with the vet tomorrow to see what needs to be done. I’m just ready to throw in the towel. Grace asked me what was wrong and I just told her that sometimes adults have bad days just like kids. And today I’m having a bad day.
But despite the bad news this week, I did have pockets of sunshine throughout the day. My kids haven’t caught my pink eye. I met with a friend at a park to enjoy the sunshine and talk shop. My husband has a job. I’m so grateful that he does. And we can celebrate my birthday when he gets back. I have fantastic in laws that will drive 3 hours to pick up my son to watch during the week when my husband travels. Not having the bundle of energy around does make it easier for me when Chris is gone.
New hair cut and color. Love the glasses?!? I don’t wear them out of the house often but the pink eye has forced me to.
This is a look I seem to get more frequently from my daughter the older she gets.
Very frosty morning for down here. And yes, my daughter still refuses to put her coat on.
Special treat of breakfast out at a restaurant before school.
Unintentional portrait of my friend. We met at the park to discuss the wedding that I shot as her second shooter and to just spend time together.
Decorating her Valentine’s Day box for school.
Driving out to dinner to celebrate my birthday with my mom.
My little man returned home today just in time to celebrate.
Now head on over to Ana Luisa Solis’s blog to see what she has been up to in the last month.

Wow! How quickly 31 days went by. I feel like it was just last week that I was in Hilton Head and had shown you my sunrise/sunset collection of pictures from that day. But a lot has happened since that week. Our family has celebrated the month with smiles and hugs had moments of great sadness with the loss of a dear family member.
We celebrated in grand style this year. We packed up the entire family, including grandparents on both sides and made the 9 hour road trip to the happiest place on Earth. Yup. We celebrated Christmas and my daughter’s birthday at Disney! What a magical way to end the year this has been. Not only was this my children’s and husbands first time to this magical place.
My daughter’s birthday is two days after Christmas. I feel guilty that her birthday and Christmas all get rolled into one. For my daughter’s 6th birthday, we spent the day at Epcot where she got to talk to all the princesses and had a very special dinner with just dear old mom, Grandma and Nana. I decided to use the pictures from this day for my 10 on 10. When you get done looking at my pictures be sure to go to head on over to Dana Cubbage’s blog to get a peak at her day. Then follow the blog circle around so you can see what all 10 of us have been up to.
Just entered the park at Epcot. Waiting with Nana.
These gorgeous topiary were in all the parks. On a side note, not sure what was going on with Grace’s hair here. It has a wild woman look to it.
First Pair of Ears! We have ears, say cheers!!!
Some of the princesses that the kids met. Cooper seemed to have problems keeping his tongue in his mouth for most of the pictures during the trip. Boys will be boys!
Funny little chipmunks that would stop hugging Grace. The poor girl behind us was trying to get her autograph book signed and Chip (or Dale, not sure which) wouldn’t stop hugging or kissing Grace.
Sitting on PaPa’s lap waiting to go into Mr. Ray’s lagoon, which was very entertaining.
Formal picture with Belle right before sitting down to eat dinner.
Excitedly waiting for the princesses to come to our table to talk with her.
The birthday cupcake.
A birthday card signed by all the princesses!

Ack, another 10 on 10 has crept up on me. Like I said in yesterday’s post, my husband and I have spent the week in Hilton Head Island, SC for a week of R and R before the Disney Christmas madness beg
ins.
What a perfect location for my 10 on 10. I love being at the beach and photographing the beach. I thought it would be cool to capture the sunrises and sunsets of the island. I got up at 6 this morning to go on down to the beach. I sat on the sand, listening to the wave crash and watched the sun rise. I will admit. It was cold. After the sun came up I drove on down to a national preserve to watch the sun creep up in the sky from a different perspective from the intercoastal waterway. There was a gorgeous white heron that love to model for me.
This evening, I photographed the sun setting from a different beach on the island and another canal that ran through it. I was hoping to see a alligator but none decide to show their pearly whites.
This has been a wonderful trip with lots of laughter, snuggling and relaxation. I’m blessed to be able to do this. Now when I get back, I’ll be putting on my Mickey ears and getting ready for a whole different kind of laughter and delight.
Now head on over to see what Mary Schannen is up to in her part of the world.

So I am doing another group project. This one is called “10 on 10″. I’ve joined with a group of 10 other fabulously, talented photographers who, through 10 images, document their day. These images are posted on the 10th of every month. I actually missed last month’s assignment, not because I didn’t do it. I had less than stellar internet connection when I was vacationing in NYC and couldn’t get my images to upload. At the very end of my post, I will have a link to the next photographer in the list. Just click on it and peek into a snippet of her life. Oh, and while you’re at it, leave some love. We all love reading responses.
7:12- Getting my morning addiction…Facebook
8:21- Pancakes with a little help from my Mini Me’s
9:01- My hubby starting to build my new computer. Mine completely bit the dust on Monday.
3:15-5:00- Met up with a group of other fantastic photographers for a photo walk in downtown Raleigh. My daughter tagged along and took her own pictures. I seemed to have an obsession with bike. I took a lot of pictures of bicycles and motorcycles. I had a great time with everyone!
7:35- Pulled over to the side of the road to photograph the sunset as the cars drive on the interstate.
Now head on over to Melissa Gibson’s blog to see how she captured her day in 10 images.
