Your Season | Week 10 | Raleigh NC Photographer
Posted on March 8, 2012
The prompt for this week was “Your Season”. For me these worn little training shoes represent the season that I just left in my life. My son turned 4 yesterday. My baby is no longer a baby and I just have to face it. This season of my life has passed. Gone are the chubby little baby and toddler legs, along with rolly polly, flat feet. Instead I have moved on to a very active and inquisitive little boy. A child that is happiest when naked and jumping off the tallest thing he can find and scaring his mother in the process. I’ve also come to peace with the fact that there will be no more sweet smelling newborns in my home. I will have to wait to sniff that smell again when I am a beaming grandmother. In the meantime, I just am so proud to experience this new adventure and season of my life.
Now head on over to see what beautiful image Christa Paustenbaugh in Manassas, VA has for this week.

Shiny | Week 9 | Cary NC Kid Photography
Posted on March 1, 2012
This week’s theme was shiny. So many ideas floated through my head but a bottle of silver glitter won out. Add into the mix pretty cute almost 4 year old and I got my picture. But not exactly the image that I had imagined. The one that caught my eye was an out of focus out take. That was the one I played with and turned into my interpretation of shiny.
And just to share how cute my little baby is…
Now head on over to Erin Dahl, Collierville TN Children’s Photographer to see what is her vision of shiny.

Time | Week 8 | Cary NC Photographer
Posted on February 23, 2012
This week’s prompt is time. I knew exactly what I was going to photograph. I went down to the office safe and pulled out my husband’s grandfather pocket watch. With it’s well loved case, it represents time in so many different ways.

Love | Week 6 | Raleigh Childrens Photographer
Posted on February 9, 2012
I told Grace that we would be going out to take pictures for her Valentine’s Day cards this week and she was super excited. As was I. A cute girl, a banner and a little love was all I needed.

Another month has flown by and in my true nature, I’ve procrastinated once again to the last day to take pictures. This has been a rough week for me. Monday morning, I waved good bye to my husband as he flew off to Taipai, Taiwan. He originally was be gone until Sunday but I got the phone call that his trip would be extended longer and he wasn’t sure when his return flight would be. Poo. I hate when he is gone. I don’t sleep well. My kids seem a little off kilter and I just miss him terribly. Plus Sunday is my birthday and Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. Looks like I will not be celebrating those with my hubby this year.
After dropping him off at the airport, I had to make a doctor’s appointment for myself. I have PINK EYE!!! Just miserable. Eyes that are irritated and don’t function are not a photographers friend. Then to top it off, I think we might have to put our dog down. I just discovered a tumor on the inside of his gums. It wasn’t there when I bathed him last week and now it’s the size of a golf ball. I will be making an appointment with the vet tomorrow to see what needs to be done. I’m just ready to throw in the towel. Grace asked me what was wrong and I just told her that sometimes adults have bad days just like kids. And today I’m having a bad day.
But despite the bad news this week, I did have pockets of sunshine throughout the day. My kids haven’t caught my pink eye. I met with a friend at a park to enjoy the sunshine and talk shop. My husband has a job. I’m so grateful that he does. And we can celebrate my birthday when he gets back. I have fantastic in laws that will drive 3 hours to pick up my son to watch during the week when my husband travels. Not having the bundle of energy around does make it easier for me when Chris is gone.
New hair cut and color. Love the glasses?!? I don’t wear them out of the house often but the pink eye has forced me to.
This is a look I seem to get more frequently from my daughter the older she gets.
Very frosty morning for down here. And yes, my daughter still refuses to put her coat on.
Special treat of breakfast out at a restaurant before school.
Unintentional portrait of my friend. We met at the park to discuss the wedding that I shot as her second shooter and to just spend time together.
Decorating her Valentine’s Day box for school.
Driving out to dinner to celebrate my birthday with my mom.
My little man returned home today just in time to celebrate.
Now head on over to Ana Luisa Solis’s blog to see what she has been up to in the last month.

On the Shelf | Week 5 | Cary NC Photographer
Posted on February 3, 2012
Every morning when I take my shower, I read the words on my Philosophy body wash. They are my mantras of how I want to live my day. The words are how I aspire to live my life….full of an amazing grace.
“philosophy: life is a classroom. we are both student and teacher. each day is a test and each day we receive a passing or failing grade in one particular subject: grace. grace is compassion, gratitude, surrender, faith, forgiveness, good manners, reverence and the list goes on. it’s something money can’t buy and credentials rarely produce. being the smartest, the prettiest, the most talented, the richest, or even the poorest, can’t help. being a humble person can and being a helpful person can guide you through your days with grace and gratitude.”

Little Love Bug | Cary Childrens Photographer
Posted on January 31, 2012
I met up with the adorable Miss H and her parents this weekend for her portrait session. I first meet Miss H when she was just a couple days old for her newborn pictures in Raleigh. Well that sweet baby girl is almost nine months old and has turned into quite the adorable little thing! I could not get enough of those pinchable cheeks! Just too cute!!!!! We headed on over to a park in Cary for the first part of our photography session. Miss H was probably the easiest 9 month old that I have photographed. She would just sit where I placed her and didn’t seem too upset by the cooler temperature. After the bridge session we headed into downtown Cary for a different look, with a complete wardrobe change and set. I love how her mom just had everything planned out to a tee and knew exactly what to bring to make the session fabulous.
Thank you so much for letting me take Miss H’s 9 month pictures and I can’t wait to celebrate her first year with you. The cake smash will be just fantastic and so much fun.

I adore your take on this week’s theme! That is a great photo, a little bit of sadness, but a lot of happiness too at how he is growing up!

Oh, such a lovely shot and bittersweet. My daughter is 2.5 and I truly think each month is a little better than the last but catching glimpses of those tiny shoes…oh man!

oh so sweet! Each and every milestone they take is bittersweet, isn’t it? But I have to laugh (having two teenagers) 4 still seems like quite the ‘baby’ to me…enjoy the age….they really do grow so so fast!
